MISSION AND VISION
The Literacy Center at Niles West High School creates an equitable and encouraging learning environment which supports student learning through high-quality, student-centered tutoring. Peer-to-peer and professional assistance through individual and small group collaboration promote student success and empowerment. Our goal is to equip students with the tools they need to be confident learners who are able to achieve their academic goals.
WHAT WE DO
The Literacy Center offers drop-in tutoring services for students at Niles West High School. Core focus areas include Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. Our mission is to provide quality tutoring that supports student learning and empowers students to achieve academic success. The Literacy Center provides a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for students to drop in to seek help on homework, essay writing, exam prep, and more. Trained, qualified peer tutors provide one-to-one and group sessions to support student learning in various courses and disciplines.
We are located in Room 1161. Students are welcome to drop in for help before school, during their free periods (lunch and/or study hall) or after school. No appointment needed. Students are assigned to tutors on a first-come, first-served basis.
